The government has appointed Suhas S as the special officer for Wayanad township project. He is currently the managing director of the Roads and Bridges Development Corporation of Kerala.

According to the order issued by the General Administration department, he will coordinate with KIIFCON and Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society Ltd, the district collector and the District Disaster Management Authority. He will be responsible for setting up and managing the schedule of activities for the completion of the township. Besides, he will be responsible for managing the sponsorship framework and coordinating with sponsors.

Suhas will also identify new sponsors and possibilities for corporate social responsibility. The revenue department has issued an order according to the sanction for the project and appointed KIIFCON as the project management consultant. A committee headed by the Chief Secretary will monitor the progress of the work and set up a quality assurance framework.

The government has sanctioned Rs 15 lakhs for those affected by the landslide who wish to stay outside the township. The proposal submitted by KIIFCON, 467 units on plots measuring 5 cents and 266 units on plots measuring 10 cents, has been approved by the government at a proposed cost of Rs 632 crores. Tribal families will be allotted land either in the township or places near the forest zone subject to provisions of the Forest Rights Act, or they will be given Rs 15 lakh.
