Kozhikode: The Kunnamangalam Judicial First Class Court on Saturday remanded a 45-year-old government higher secondary school teacher arrested on POCSO charges in judicial custody.

The Kunnamangalam police apprehended the accused, Kayakkottummal Sreenij, a native of Omassery, on charges of sexually abusing his students. They charged him under the POCSO Act after receiving complaints from two girl students from class 6 via the headmaster of the school.

The police said that there were six cases against him at the Kunnamangalam and Thamarassery stations, including charges of physically assaulting students, verbally abusing co-teachers, and causing public disturbances. He was arrested by an eight-member police team led by the Sub Inspector.
