Elderly woman attacked by elephant in Thrissur, severely injured

An elderly woman sustained severe injuries in an elephant attack near Valparai. The incident occurred at the Idiyar Estate. The injured, Annalakshmi (67), is a resident in the workers' quarters at the tea estate here. The attack happened around 11 pm on Sunday.
Annalakshmi was caught in front of the elephant, destroying a ration shop. The elephant struck her with its trunk, and it stomped on her when she fell. In the attack, Annalakshmi suffered critical injuries to her leg and hip.
Though Annalakshmi was initially admitted to the Valparai Government Hospital and given first aid, she was later transferred to the Pollachi Government Hospital for further treatment.
