Clash at Calicut varsity arts fest in Thrissur leaves over 10 injured

A clash broke out during the Calicut University D-Zone Arts Fest at Mala, Thrissur, leaving over ten students injured. Among them, Ashish, SFI unit secretary of Kerala Varma College, Thrissur, sustained serious injuries. The event was halted following the incident.
The altercation began on Monday night over disagreements related to the judgment of a skit competition. A dispute between participants and organisers escalated, drawing in members of the student organisations SFI and KSU. The situation worsened as metal rods, stones, and chairs were used during the confrontation, leading to multiple injuries. Police intervened to disperse the crowd, and the injured were taken to various hospitals.
In a related incident, an ambulance carrying injured KSU activists was attacked at Muringoor. CCTV footage revealed a group arriving in a car and attacking the ambulance with metal rods. KSU Thrissur district president Gokul Guruvayur alleged that DYFI and SFI activists were behind the attack. Those targeted sought refuge at the Koratty Police Station and filed a complaint.
