Kollam: A cannabis plant, approximately six feet tall, was seized by excise officials from the Chathannoor range near Kottuvankonam junction along the Parippally–Paravur road.

The plant was found growing among wild vegetation on a plot of land near the Kottuvankonam Mahavishnu temple. Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Excise Range Inspector (Grade) S Nishad carried out an inspection and uncovered the plant.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine whether the plant was intentionally cultivated. A case has been registered, and a detailed probe is in progress.

The operation was conducted by a team comprising Excise Inspector (Grade) Siby Cyril, Preventive Officer Everson Lasar, and Civil Excise Officer Muhammad Ijas.
