Police rifle goes off in Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple

Thiruvananthapuram: A shot fired from a police rifle created panic at the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple here on Monday. No one was injured, and soon it became apparent that the gun had gone off accidentally.
The incident happened at 8:30 am. The officer concerned reported for duty and headed to the room where the rifles were stored. "The rifle was in a state for firing, and when he began cleaning, the shot was fired," said an officer at the Fort Police Station.
No one was injured during the incident, the officer said, adding that the incident was unintentional and was a pure accident.
