Kattappana: A 31-year-old man from Kozhikode was arrested with 27 grams of MDMA in Kattappana on Tuesday. The accused, Faris, a resident of Narayanaguru Road, Koyilandy, was caught by a police team led by the Kattappana DySP following a tip-off.

The arrest took place during a vehicle inspection on the Kattappana bypass road, where police noticed Faris acting suspiciously. A body search revealed the synthetic drug concealed on him.

Faris had reportedly travelled from Bengaluru early in the morning and was waiting in Kattappana to hand over the drugs to another individual. Police suspect that the accused is linked to an interstate drug network. The cops in charge of the probe contacted Kozhikode police to investigate Faris' background and trace the source and recipient of the narcotics. He was remanded in judicial custody by a court in Kattappana on Tuesday evening.

The operation, overseen by District Police Chief T K Vishnu Pradeep, was carried out by a District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF) team led by DySP V A Nishad Monty along with SIs Shaji Abraham, Bertin Jose, P V Mahesh, SCPO Shameer, CPOs Bibin Mathew, R Ganesh and Sinoj Joseph.
