Say no to drugs: Campaign kicks off at St Joseph school in Thrissur, more to follow

Thrissur: A large-scale anti-drug campaign was launched at St Joseph Higher Secondary School in Kaipamangalam, led by E T Taison MLA, to spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.
A total of 51 selected individuals, including teachers, writers, health and education workers, excise officials, and other notable personalities, led awareness sessions for students of Classes 8, 9, and 10. From 10 am to 10.40 am, they visited classrooms to interact with students and discuss the harmful effects of drugs.
Students were excited to see the MLA take on the role of a teacher. As chairman of the constituency’s anti-drug committee, he also informed them about the help desk and counselling facilities available.
The sessions were led by Mathilakam Panchayat President Zeenath Basheer, Sastra Sahitya Parishad President T K Mirabai, award-winning teachers K K Hareesh Kumar, V K Mujeeb Rahman, A K Moitheen, blogger Moni Shabeer, writers Adithyan Kathikode, teachers Havva and Afnas, school manager Fr Shaijan Kalathil, CI Balasubramanian, psychologist Latheef Chenath, Swarksha Commissioner P R Sreedhar, and E R Rekha. Event coordinator T S Sajeevan and principal Joji Joseph also spoke.
After the session, students gathered on the school ground and formed the message 'Say No to Drugs', followed by an anti-drug oath. A special alphabet statue by artist Davinchi Suresh drew much attention from both students and guests. The campaign will continue in other higher secondary schools in the constituency in the coming days.
