Kozhikode travel agent abducted over financial dispute; gang of 5 arrested

Kozhikode: Travel agency manager KP Biju, who was kidnapped on Wednesday, was rescued by Kozhikode Police from a hideout at Karuvarakundu in Malappuram. A native of Beypore, Biju works at KP Travels in the city. Police said that he had financial dealings with the kidnappers and was forcibly taken by car around 2.11 am under the pretext of going to the police station.
Despite resistance from bystanders, the gang managed to abduct Biju and flee. Following a complaint lodged by a colleague, the Kasaba Police and the City Crime Squad, led by Assistant Commissioner TK Ashraf, launched an investigation.
Using CCTV footage and cyber cell inputs, police tracked down the five suspects and arrested, Muhammed Anshid (25), Sahool Rahman Parakkal (35) and Junais Paratti (36), all from Malappuram, Shyam Kumar (43) of Mundadikkalathil, Alappuzha and Delvin (24) of Wayanad. The car used in the abduction was also seized.
Police said the investigation is ongoing to uncover further details of the financial deal between the gang and Biju, as well as to determine whether more people are involved in the incident.
