Kollam: The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Kollam has ordered a television manufacturer to replace a defective television set and pay compensation to a customer due to repeated service failures.

The complainant, Safeer Babu, purchased a new television in 2021. However, the unit became non-functional within just four months. The company replaced it with another set, but the replacement also failed shortly after.

Left with no alternative, Safeer Babu filed a complaint with the District Consumer Forum. After reviewing the case, the Commission ruled that the company had failed to provide reliable after-sales service.

The Commission directed the manufacturer to either replace the defective television with a new one or issue a refund of the purchase amount. Additionally, it ordered the company to pay ₹10,000 as compensation and ₹5,000 towards legal expenses.

The complainant was represented by advocates Kallada K G Alexander and Kallada Tito Andrews Alexander.
