Kerala Science City at Kozha gets ₹6 cr for second phase of development

Kottayam: The state government has granted administrative sanction of ₹6.38 crore for the second phase of development at the Kerala Science City in Kozha, MP Jose K Mani has announced. The funds will support the ongoing construction of the Space Theatre, an overhead water tank, a food court, electrification works, and the entrance gate. A sky observatory is also planned as part of this phase.
According to the MP, the allocation was approved after he brought the urgency of expediting the works to the attention of Higher Education Minister R Bindu.
Over 17,000 visitors in 18 days
Since its opening, Science City has attracted over 7,000 visitors in just 18 days, averaging 500 to 600 guests per day. Officials from the Kerala State Science and Technology Museum noted a significant increase in foot traffic following the launch of the food court. The highest single-day attendance was on July 13, with 624 visitors. However, on July 18, only 90 visitors were recorded due to heavy rain.
Entry is priced at ₹30 per person, with a discounted rate of ₹20 for students. Visiting hours are from 10 am to 5 pm.
Parking is available for all types of vehicles, including buses. Entry tickets can be purchased at the counter just inside the main gate. The entire Science City premises is maintained as a no-plastic zone.
