Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that moderate to heavy rain will lash Kerala on Wednesday. A yellow alert has been issued for eight districts — Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod. According to the IMD forecast, heavy rain is expected in the state till July 27.

According to the alert issued at 1 pm on Wednesday, all districts are expected to receive moderate rainfall accompanied by strong winds reaching up to 40 km/h by 4 pm. People living along the banks of the Mogral River in Kasaragod and the Manimala River in Pathanamthitta are advised to exercise caution, as the Irrigation Design and Research Board has sounded a yellow alert for these rivers.

Fishermen warning
The IMD has advised fisherfolk not to venture into the sea off the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts until July 26 due to adverse weather conditions.
