A bear broke into a shop in Peraar near Ooty at midnight, smashing a glass pane to enter and eat ice cream and eggs stored inside. The unusual incident was reported by Raveendran V P, a Malayali who runs a resort in the area. CCTV footage shows the bear initially trying to open the shop’s door. When that failed, it broke through a window and stepped inside.

Despite glass shards falling on it, the bear appeared undeterred. It headed straight for the fridge, opened it, and helped itself to all the ice cream inside. Before leaving, it also ate the eggs kept in the fridge.  A video of the wild intruder enjoying its frozen treat has since gone viral on social media.

According to Raveendran, while the area often sees visits from wild animals like leopards and even black tigers, this is the first time one has broken through glass to enter a building.
