Troublesome langur resists banana, falls for bonda, trapped at Kerala-TN border

A Nilgiri langur that had been terrorising residents in the Shivalinga–Puliyangudi region for over a month and a half was finally captured by the Forest Department. The monkey had strayed into human settlements, attacking residents and injuring three people, including a student. Fear gripped the area, with many, including women and children, afraid to step outside.
Following repeated complaints, the Forest Department set up a cage trap in the area. However, the langur repeatedly evaded capture. Initial attempts to lure it with bananas failed. Authorities even considered tranquilising the animal, but before they could proceed, it was finally caught—this time tempted by a bonda (a local snack) placed inside the cage. The captured langur was later transported to Thekkady for further action.
