Thousands gathered to bid an emotional farewell to former Kerala Chief Minister and veteran CPM leader V S Achuthanandan. From Thiruvananthapuram to his ancestral home in Alappuzha, people braved the sun, rain, and nightfall for a final glimpse of their beloved comrade.
Flowers were laid on the hearse, and slogans like “Kanne Karale VSe, nammude chunkile rosa pove” and “Red Salute, Comrade!” echoed through towns and villages as the funeral procession moved slowly.

In Alappuzha, people across political lines came together. Despite heavy rain, thousands accompanied VS on his final journey to the Valiyachudukadu burial ground—a farewell worthy of a leader who stood with the people all his life.
