Kozhikode: A woman was found dead by hanging at her husband's residence in Marad here on Friday night. The deceased is Shimna PP, wife of Prasanth Melepurakkal, a resident of Kaithavalappu Colony.

She was found hanging at around 8.30 pm and was immediately rushed to the Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital, where she was declared dead. Her mortal remains were handed over to the family after an autopsy on Saturday.

Shimna's father, Ramanathan Padattil Paramba, has filed a complaint with the Marad police. Based on the complaint, police have registered a case for unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Reportedly, Shimna had faced issues due to her husband's alcohol addiction. The couple has an 8-year-old child.
