Kollam: A young man who allegedly tried to sexually assault a dentist at her dental clinic in Pathanapuram here on Saturday has been arrested.

The accused is Saldan (24), whose father runs a grocery store near the dental clinic.

The Pathanapuram police have filed a case against him under Section 74 (2) (assault or use of criminal force against a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty), and Section 329(3) (criminal trespass) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). 

According to the Pathanapuram police, Saldan attempted to stuff the dentist's mouth with cloth to stop her from making noise. Locals gathered on hearing the dentist’s cries and apprehended the accused.

Police officials stated that the accused has no criminal history. "Locals described Saldan as a quiet person. They said that he is usually on his mobile phone while at his father's store," an official said.
