Kochi: Palarivattam Police have registered an FIR against producer PA Shamnas on Monday for allegedly forging the signature of actor-producer Nivin Pauly to acquire the title rights for 'Action Hero Biju 2'. The complaint, filed by Nivin Pauly, alleges that Shamnas submitted forged documents to the Film Chamber to obtain the rights.
An agreement signed in 2023 by Nivin Pauly, director Abrid Shine and Shamnas stated that all rights to the sequel of 'Action Hero Biju' belonged to the actor's production company, Pauly Jr. However, Shamnas allegedly concealed this agreement and forged Nivin Pauly’s signature to claim ownership falsely. The police acted after a preliminary investigation confirmed the forgery.
If the forgery is established in court, the Film Chamber might initiate action against Shamnas. This may include a possible ban on his production company in addition to legal consequences.
Shamnas had earlier filed a complaint against Nivin Pauly, accusing him of transferring the film's overseas rights without consent.
The latest complaint also alleges that Shamnas attempted to tarnish Nivin Pauly’s public image and used intimidation during the ongoing contractual dispute. The police have charged Shamnas with non-bailable offences under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) 1860, Sections 465 and 471.
