Malappuram: A DANSAF team arrested two men with 4.84 grams of MDMA during a patrol in Porunnummal, Kolathur, near Perinthalmanna on Tuesday.

A team led by Kolathur DANSAF Sub-Inspector Bibin apprehended Eranjithodi Abdul Basith (25) and Nillikodan Ranjith (26), both residents of Makkaraparambu. They were later produced before the Perinthalmanna court.

Malappuram District Police Chief R Vishwanath had earlier received information about drug sales and consumption in quarters housing migrant workers in the Makkaraparambu and Porunnummal areas. Acting on the tip-off, intensified patrols were launched within Kolathur station limits.

The operation was coordinated by Perinthalmanna DySP A Premjith, Narcotics Cell DySP N O Sibi, and Kolathur CI Sajith. The team included SI Jagadeesh, SCPOs Nidhin Antony and Jayesh, CPO Jiju, and members of the District Anti-Narcotic Squad. The proceedings were completed under the supervision of Mankada Inspector Ashwith S Kanmayil.
