Pallikkurupp: The Sabari Higher Secondary School has taken a major step toward inclusive education by officially becoming a disabilty-friendly institution. The school has launched 'Arike', a project designed to ensure and enhance the physical and mental well-being of intellectually or physically disabled students through scientific interventions.

The initiative was developed after a detailed study into the challenges faced by intellectually or physically disabled students. The primary goal of the project is to protect these students from exploitation and behaviours that could undermine their self-confidence.

As part of the initiative, the school will establish a separate section, offer special training for parents and provide access to scientific therapy and treatment facilities. The project also emphasises building emotional and social support through community interventions, specially designed games and vocational training.

The project was inaugurated by M Jayaprakash, Coordinator of Faith India Special School, Viyyakurissi. PTA President A Nasaruddin, Headmaster K Ramakrishnan, Principal A Biju, Mannarkkad BPC KK Manikandan, School Administrator P Raveendran, MP Jadeera, Arike Project Director P Priya and Vivek Pariyanampatta also spoke at the event.
