Actor Shanawas, son of Prem Nazir, passes away at 70

Thiruvananthapuram: Popular Malayalam actor Shanawas, son of evergreen superstar Prem Nazir, passed away on Monday night at the age of 70.
Shanawas had been undergoing treatment for kidney and heart-related ailments for the past four years. His condition worsened on Monday night, and he was admitted to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, where he breathed his last around 11.50 pm.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 5 pm at the Palayam Muslim Jamaath Cemetery.
Born in Thiruvananthapuram to actor Prem Nazir and Habeeba Beevi, Shanawas completed his early education at Chirayinkeezhu English Medium School, Montfort School, and Yercaud. He obtained a master's degree in English Literature from New College, Chennai.
Shanawas made his acting debut in 1981 with Premageethangal, directed by Balachandra Menon. Over the years, he acted in several notable films, including Mazhanilavu, Eeyugam, Maniyara, Neelagiri, Garbhashreemaan, and Zachariyayude Garbhinikal. He appeared in over 50 films in both Malayalam and Tamil.
After taking a brief break from film, Shanawas made a comeback in 2011 with China Town. His final film appearance was in the Prithviraj-starrer Jana Gana Mana. He was also active in television, featuring in popular serials such as Shankhumukham, Velutha Kathreena, Kadamatathu Kathanar, and Sathyameva Jayathe.
Shanawas is survived by his wife Ayesha Abdul Aziz, sons Ajith Khan and Shameer Khan, and daughter-in-law Hana. He was residing at Cordon Trinity 2B in Vazhuthacaud.
