Kochi: A man killed himself after jumping from the metro track between SN Junction and Vadakekkota stations near Tripunithura on Thursday. The deceased, Nizar, is a native of Chullippara, Malappuram. He was first taken to a private hospital in Tripunithura, then shifted to Medical Trust Hospital in Pallimukku, Ernakulam, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Nizar reportedly entered through the Vadakekkota Metro Station terminal and walked along the track. Kochi Metro police, alerted to the security breach, rushed to stop him. Despite their efforts, the man jumped from the track towards the main road.

Fire and rescue personnel reached the scene after being alerted by Metro authorities, and police cleared traffic in the area. According to KMRL authorities, Metro services, which were briefly halted following the incident, have since been restored.
