Thrissur: A woman was stabbed and robbed of her gold chain in broad daylight on AKG Road at Sreenarayanapuram, Pallinada, here on Thursday. The incident occurred around 12 pm, and within hours, the accused was apprehended by the Thrissur Rural Police.

Jayamma (60), a resident of Karippadath House in Panangad, was attacked while she was working at the house of a man named Vishwanathan. The accused is Vijin (42), a resident of Puthuveettil in Panangad. He approached Jayamma from behind and stabbed her multiple times before snatching her gold chain, which weighed around three sovereigns. He reportedly fled the scene immediately after the crime but was caught by the police within a few hours.

Jayamma sustained five stab wounds and was initially rushed to Modern Hospital, Kodungallur. She was later shifted to Thrissur Medical College Hospital for expert medical care.
