Youth held for abducting minor girl from Idukki

Thodupuzha: A 27-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly abducting a 16-year-old girl and taking her to Tamil Nadu. The accused has been identified as K Satheesh Kumar alias Kannan, a resident of Kannimarchola near Vannaanpaalam in Vellaramkunnu, Kumaly.
The girl, a Plus One student in Thodupuzha, was reportedly taken to Tamil Nadu in the accused’s autorickshaw on July 28. Following a complaint lodged by the girl’s family, the police launched an investigation and traced the duo to Coimbatore.
After locating them, the police brought the girl back to Karimannoor and handed her over to her parents. It is reported that the girl had previously become acquainted with the accused while studying in Kumaly. Leveraging this prior connection, the accused allegedly deceived her with a false love proposal and lured her away from Thodupuzha.
The Karimannoor police apprehended the accused and recovered the girl in an operation led by Station House Officer VC Vishnukumar, with Sub-Inspector Biju Jacob and ASIs KP Anil, Ansar, and CPO Anju coordinating the search in Coimbatore.
The accused has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and was produced before the court, which subsequently remanded him to judicial custody.
