Thodupuzha: Vigilance officials conducted surprise raids at Sub-Registrar offices in Thodupuzha, Udumbanchola, Devikulam, and Peermade as part of a statewide inspection on Thursday.

Preliminary findings suggest possible financial irregularities in Udumbanchola and Devikulam offices. Officials detected unauthorised financial transactions between document writers and staff through Google Pay, a UPI platform. In Udumbanchola, a ₹15,000 transaction was flagged. In Devikulam, there were two suspicious transactions of ₹50,000 and ₹41,000.

The staff’s explanations were reportedly unsatisfactory, prompting authorities to begin a detailed examination of records. The raids, which started at 4 pm, continued till night. Vigilance officials said further investigation is underway to determine the scale of the irregularities.
