Anticipating heavy rainfall, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for six districts in Kerala on Friday. 

A yellow alert is declared for Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Malappuram, Thrissur and Idukki districts. A yellow alert indicates the possibility of heavy rainfall in the range of 7cm to 12 cm in 24 hours.

The weather agency also said that heavy rains will ease by today. No alerts or warnings have been issued in the state for the coming days.

During the past week, Kerala has witnessed heavy rainfall, with waterlogging and widespread damage reported from many districts.
