Thrissur: An eight-year-old boy was mauled to death by a leopard in Valparai on Monday evening. The deceased, Noorin Islam, is the son of migrant workers from Assam. The incident occurred at the Waverly Estate around 6.45 pm.

When the boy went missing, residents and his parents launched a search and later found his body in the middle of a tea plantation. Several parts of his face and body had been eaten. Forest officials have shifted the body to the Government Hospital, Valparai, for a post-mortem examination.
