Idukki: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate two renovated, modern police stations in Thankamani and Vagamon, along with a fully equipped district control room in Idukki, on Tuesday. The ceremony will be held online at 3.30 pm.

New police stations
The Thankamani and Vagamon police stations, each three storeys high with 23 rooms, feature dedicated areas for personnel, property storage, records, three lock-ups, disabled-friendly toilets, and parking. Construction costs stood at ₹2.44 crore for Thankamani and ₹1.95 crore for Vagamon.

Advanced technology facilities
The district control room, located at the Idukki police camp, cost ₹98.16 lakh and includes a two-storey structure with an emergency response system (ERS), automatic number plate recognition (ANPR), and other technology-enabled operational rooms.

Inaugural events
The Thankamani bus stand grounds will host the main ceremony, presided over by Water Resources Minister Roshy Augustine. MLA Vazhoor Soman will chair the Vagamon police station opening, while DCRB DySP K R Biju will oversee the control room inauguration. Representatives from three-tier panchayats, political leaders, social figures, and departmental officials are expected to attend.
