Thiruvalla: The eyes of Palapparambil Pothan Philipose, who died in a road accident recently, will now restore sight to two people. Pothan, who sustained grievous injuries in an accident on the Thiruvalla–Kayamkulam Road near Alamthuruthy, had been undergoing treatment at a private medical college in Thiruvalla.

He passed away on Sunday. Following the declaration of brain death after the accident, his relatives decided to donate his eyes, giving the gift of vision to others. The accident occurred when the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a pick-up van. The Pulikeezhu police have initiated further proceedings.

Pothan Philipose, owner of Vava Sound System in Puthuppally, was the son of the late P Philip and the late Ponnamma. His wife, Beena Pothan of Puthuppally Vazhiyil, is a staff member at MGEM HSS, Vakathanam.

He is survived by two children: Bikku Pothan Philip (InfoPark, Kochi) and Jikku Pothan Philip (MCA student, Kristu Jyothi College, Changanassery). The funeral will be held at 2 pm at Puthuppally St. George Orthodox Cathedral, following prayers at his residence.
