Idukki tea plantation worker killed in pruning machine mishap

Idukki: A tea plantation worker in Idukki died after being struck by a broken blade from a pruning machine during routine work. The incident took place around 9.30 am at the HML Gundumala Division in Chinnakanal Suryanelli.
The deceased, Vijay Shekhar (56), a resident and employee of the same division, sustained deep injuries to both thighs and severe damage to the groin after the blade snapped and hit him. Co-workers rushed him to the HML Clinic in Suryanelli, but he could not be saved.
The body was taken to Adimali Taluk Hospital for post-mortem examination and later handed over to his family. The funeral will be held on Tuesday at the Suryanelli public cemetery. Shekhar is survived by his wife, Isakkiammal and children, Ramkumar and Rajalakshmi.
