Cheruvathoor: Thick bushes and wild shrubs have taken over the stage in the playground, the area around the Conference Hall, and the pathways leading to the washrooms. The entire school premises now resemble a mini-forest,one where reptiles could appear at any time. ....This is the pathetic state of Cheruvathoor Technical High School, an institution gifted by the first State Cabinet on the Kerala Formation Day.

Local residents are now asking, “Will anyone step in to clear the overgrowth and restore the campus to its former glory?” After all, it was on these very grounds that the Government Engineering College was announced in the previous State budget.

Many alumni of this school are now working across the world. In its heyday, the school not only excelled in academics but also made its mark in sports and the arts. Located on the Njanangai Hill, the campus is not far from the site where a worker recently lost his life in a soil slip during National Highway construction.

With the grounds now completely covered in dense undergrowth, even passing through the route demands caution. The call for an immediate clean-up of the school premises is growing louder.
