Kozhikode: The accused in a case involving the abduction of a girl escaped from police custody at Feroke here on Wednesday. Assam native Prasanjith (21) fled from Feroke Police Station while still in handcuffs.

The police are conducting an extensive search to locate Prasanjith, said an officer at the Feroke police station.

The accused had allegedly abducted the girl, who is from another state, and fled from Perumukham to Bengaluru. After tracing the duo, the police brought them back to the Feroke police station on Tuesday, according to Manorama Online. 

The girl was produced before the court on Wednesday. Prasanjith was taken for a medical examination and was later made to wait at the police station. He was not placed in a lock-up, according to the report. Around 8 pm, he was found to be missing.
