Thrissur: Former MLA Anil Akkara alleged in a Facebook post that Subhash Gopi, brother of Union Minister Suresh Gopi, and his wife Rani possess not only double voting rights but also two voter ID cards each.
In the Eravipuram Assembly constituency in Kollam, Subhash Gopi is registered under voter ID number WLS0136077, while his wife Rani is listed under WLS0136218. Meanwhile, in the Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency, Subhash appears in the electoral roll under FVM13971173, and Rani under FVM1397181.
For local body elections, both Subhash and Rani are reportedly registered as voters in both the Kollam Corporation and the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation.
Akkara also pointed out that possessing more than one voter ID is a criminal offence and argued that the documents indicate that Subhash and Rani are not permanent residents of Thrissur.
