Aluva: Tamil Nadu police have taken Malayalam actor Minu Muneer into custody for allegedly attempting to sell a woman to a sex racket in 2014. According to reports, a team of Tamil Nadu police apprehended the actor from her residence in Aluva on Wednesday night.
As per the complaint, Minu took the woman—who is her relative—to Tamil Nadu after promising her a film opportunity and then attempted to hand her over to a sex racket.
Thirumangalam police have registered a case against Minu based on the woman’s complaint.
In July, Kochi City Cybercrime police arrested Minu for posting defamatory content against veteran Malayalam actor-director Balachandra Menon. She surrendered to the police after the Kerala High Court dismissed her anticipatory bail plea, but was later released on bail as per the court’s directive.
In 2024, Minu Muneer was in the headlines after she made sexual assault allegations against Malayalam actors following the release of the Justice Hema Commission Report that exposed the issues faced by women in the film industry.
