Palakkad: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has informed that Aadhaar cards will no longer carry the ‘care of’ description, due to reports of widespread misuse. Relationship descriptors such as ‘son of’, ‘daughter of’ and ‘wife of’ had already been removed from the document.
An exception remains for individuals without other identification documents. They may include ‘care of’ at the time of enrolment, subject to special procedures and a specific application. As Aadhaar is not accepted as proof of date of birth, new cards will carry only the year of birth rather than the full date.
