Thrissur: BJP's Thrissur district president Jutin Jacob has filed a complaint against a police officer, alleging that the officer assaulted him during a protest march in the city.

The incident occurred on Tuesday when BJP workers staged a march to the CPM district committee office in retaliation for a CPM protest at MP Suresh Gopi’s office, where black oil was poured on the office board.

Jacob claimed that he sustained head injuries after being struck from behind with a baton by a helmet-clad officer while he was attempting to control his party workers. He was later admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Calling the incident potentially life-threatening, Jacob has sought departmental action against the officer. Complaints have been submitted to the State Police Chief, the Thrissur Range DIG, and the Human Rights Commission.
