Alappuzha: India, daughter of Smijith and Greeshma, both natives of Vandanam, celebrated her eighth birthday on August 15. People wouldn’t easily forget India because of her unique name and the special day on which she was born. The couple says that they didn’t name their first-born India only because she was born on Independence Day. Smijith had already decided to name the baby India if she is a girl and Indian if it was a boy.

The doctor had said that Greeshma would be giving birth in September, 2017. However, she had to be rushed to the hospital in Cherthala on August 14. India was born at 12.30, August 15.

Meanwhile, Smijith and Greeshma named their second daughter Swathantra. Although she was born on August 3, Swathantra celebrates her birthday along with her sister on the Independence Day. Smijith is a bank employee in Mangaluru and the family is settled there. Smijith, Greeshma, India and Swathantra are at their ancestral home in Alappuzha to celebrate India’s eighth birthday and India’s 79th Independence Day on August 15.
