Kochi: The Induchoodan Foundation will host its first annual bird photography exhibition at Durbar Hall Art Centre, Ernakulam, from August 18 to 20. The event, featuring photographs taken by actor Mammootty alongside those of bird photographer Dr Jainy Kuriakkose, will be inaugurated by painter and curator Bose Krishnamachari at 11 am on Monday.
This year’s edition will display 52 bird photographs captured by 32 photographers. Breaking away from traditional formats, the images have been printed on canvas, accompanied by the sound of birdsong for an immersive experience. Each photograph will be paired with notes from Induchoodan’s celebrated work, 'Birds of Kerala', and all exhibits will be available for purchase.
The Foundation, established last year with writer Paul Zachariah as chairman, honours the legacy of eminent birdwatcher and author Prof K K Neelakantan, popularly known as Induchoodan. Along with spreading his message of compassion for living beings, the foundation also promotes Malayalam literature, reflecting Induchoodan’s mastery of the language despite his Tamil roots.
Since its formation, it has organised exhibitions, lectures, and cultural programmes in Thrissur, Kozhikode, Palakkad, Kalpetta, and Aluva.
