Vellarikkundu: An indefinite Sathyagraha under the banner of Karshaka Swaraj against the growing menace of wild animal attacks began here on Friday.

Marking the launch of the protest, farmers took out a massive procession carrying the portraits of Joyichan Kochumattom, Jose Madathani, Veluthan Hazhathuveetil, and K K Krishnan, who lost their lives in wildlife attacks. Following this, relatives of the victims and leaders of the protest council paid floral tributes before the portraits.

Retired IG K V Madhusoodhanan hoisted the protest flag, while Panchayat president Raju Kattakkayam presided over the meeting.

Among those who addressed the gathering were C R Neelakandan, Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh national coordinator K V Biju, Ambalathara Kunjikrishnan, S Mohan, Sooryanarayana Bhatt, Forane Vicar Fr Dr Johnson Anthyakulam, Thamban, Kukkal Balakrishnan, K V Krishnan, Sunny Paikada, and Baby Chembarathy.
The Satyagraha is being staged every evening from 4 PM to 6 PM
