A 60-year-old woman was found dead at her residence in Purakkad, Thottapally, on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Ramlath.

"Her body was found around 3 pm by a visitor who had come to deliver an affidavit related to bank matters. The person immediately alerted a nearby private hospital and informed the police," said Panchayat President A S Sudharshanan.

“Ramlath’s room appeared to have been vandalised, and initial observations suggest a scuffle may have taken place. She was a daily wage labourer and lived off her late father's army pension. With no close surviving relatives, Ramlath had been living alone for several years,” Sudharshanan added. "The body will remain at her home overnight under police watch."

"A police team and forensic experts are currently at the scene, and an investigation is underway," said an officer from the Ambalapuzha police station.
