Varadhoor in Wayanad gets first anganwadi-cum-creche in district

Varadhoor: The district’s first anganwadi-cum-creche has begun functioning at the Varadhoor anganwadi. Children aged six months to three years will be admitted to the creche and shifted to the anganwadi after turning three.
The facility will function from 7.30 AM to 7 PM, with services managed by workers and helpers in shifts. A medicine kit, pre-school kit and toys have been arranged to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for children, thereby enabling their mothers to work without worry.
The initiative also aims to attract more women to the workforce and increase their participation in the labour sector. Panamaram block panchayat president Girija Krishnan inaugurated the anganwadi-cum-creche, established under the Women and Child Development Department. Kaniyambatta panchayat president K V Rajith presided over the function.
Panamaram block panchayat vice-president Abdul Gafoor Katti, standing committee chairpersons Nithya Bijukumar, Kaniyambatta panchayat vice-president Noorsha Chenoth, standing committee chairpersons Shamsudheen Pallikkara, Sandhua Lishu, Zeenath Thanveer, district Women and Child Development project officer Bindhu Bai, district programme officer M G Geetha and Panamaram CDPO P Anitha also attended.
