Bathery: The schools in Bathery municipality are harnessing solar energy to reduce the hefty annual power bills they incur. As part of the municipality’s annual plan, solar plants have been installed at Bathery Sarvajana GVHSS and Beenachi HSS. The two plants, with a capacity of 15 kW each, have been established at a cost of ₹21,63,999. Earlier, solar plants had also been set up at Kuppadi Government High School.

The municipality has been paying an average of ₹5 lakh annually in electricity bills for the schools. The current plan aims to gradually eliminate this financial burden through solar energy adoption. Municipal Chairman K. Ramesh inaugurated the solar plants, while Vice Chairperson Elsy Poulose, Standing Committee Chairpersons Tom Jose, K Rasheed, Sali Paulose, Shameela Junaise, Councillors Jamsheer Ali, K C Yohannan, Azees Madala, PTA President T K Sreejan, Principal P A Abdul Nasar, MSC Chairman Subash Babu, Headmistress Biji Varghese, Abily Narayanan, V M Sudhi and others spoke at the event.
