Kozhikode: Milma, Malabar region, has announced benefits amounting to ₹7.35 crore for dairy farmers in connection with Onam, Kerala’s biggest festival. Of the total amount, ₹4.15 crore will be distributed as an additional price for milk and the remaining ₹3.2 crore as a subsidy for cattle feed.

Milma officials said that an extra amount of ₹2 per litre will be paid to Anand-model dairy farmers’ societies which supplied milk meeting specified quality standards between July 1 and 31. The additional amount will be deposited before Onam in the accounts of the societies along with the payment for milk supplied from August 11 to 20, the officials added.

Meanwhile, a subsidy of ₹100 will be given to societies under the Malabar region for each 50-kg sack of Milma Gomathi Gold cattle feed sold during August and September. Similarly, a subsidy of ₹50 has been announced for each 50-kg pack of TMR cattle feed manufactured by MRDF, a sister concern of Malabar Milma. “These announcements will benefit around one lakh dairy farmers and 1,200 milk producers’ unions in the Malabar area,” said a statement issued by Milma chairman K S Mani and managing director K C James.
