Vandoor: Renowned photographer Victor George, whose timeless frames remain etched in memory, has been paid a heartfelt tribute by artist A M Sunil (42) on his death anniversary. Sunil, a native of  Marathu Kuttiyil and working as a jewellery designer in Coimbatore, has created a collage in memory of the late photojournalist.

On August 9, it marked 24 years since Victor George’s tragic death. Serving as the Chief Photographer of Malayala Manorama, he lost his life in a landslide at Venniyani Hill in Idukki. The loss left a lasting ache in Sunil’s heart, as he had always deeply admired George’s powerful imagery. In those days, he would cut out and preserve many of George’s published photographs. Using some of those treasured cuttings, Sunil has now crafted a collage as a personal homage.

Sunil, who studied painting at a fine arts institution in Kozhikode, began his career in textile designing before moving into jewellery design. Over the years, he has created pieces for several leading jewellery houses and has twice won the Kerala Gem and Jewellery Designing Award.
