Perumbavoor: A cross-cultural wedding was solemnised at the Chelamattom Sreekrishna Temple near Okkal, where Christian, son of Renatte Hopf and the late Frits Hopf of Germany, tied the knot and exchanged garlands with Maya, daughter of the late Padivattom Manayil Neelakandan Namboothiri and Savithri Antharjanam.

The wedding was held at the Gokulam wedding hall, in front of the Temple, during the muhurtam (auspicious time) between 10.15 AM and 12.15 PM, following Brahmanic customs. Around 15 friends and relatives of the groom attended the ceremony, donning traditional Kerala attire.

Maya, a reactor designer at CAE in France, and Christian, a scientist at the Darching Institute of Plasma Physics, first met while working together at the Institute of Plasma Research in Ahmedabad and their acquaintance eventually blossomed into companionship.

A wedding reception is scheduled to be held in Germany on September 13.
