Manjeshwar: In a suspected case of suicide, Madhusoodanan K M (52), an assistant sub-inspector at Manjeshwar Police Station, was found dead in the police quarters on Friday.
He had been living alone in the staff quarters for several years. Unmarried, he is survived by his younger brother Sanjeevan K M, also an ASI in the district. Their parents had predeceased them; his mother passed away about four months ago due to old age, which reportedly left him upset, said his colleagues. He is originally from Nileshwar.
Senior police officials have visited the station following the incident. A note, believed to have been written by the officer, was found, though the reason for his death has not been disclosed. Colleagues, however, ruled out work pressure.
Madhusoodanan had served in Badiadka, Adhur, and Kasaragod Town police stations. His death has shocked colleagues, who remembered him as gentle and skilled in investigations.
