The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for several districts in Kerala, signalling the likelihood of heavy rainfall between August 26 and 28. A yellow alert has been issued for Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod for Tuesday. These areas are expected to experience isolated heavy downpours with rainfall amounts ranging from 7 cm to 11 cm over the next 24 hours.

The alert will continue on Wednesday, extending to the same set of districts: Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod, where the monsoon will intensify, bringing further showers. By Thursday, the alert will be concentrated in the northern parts of the state, with Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod likely to receive heavy rainfall.

Residents in these areas are advised to stay alert, as the downpours could lead to localised flooding and disruptions. The IMD has urged the public to take necessary precautions, particularly when travelling or engaging in outdoor activities.
