Thrissur: The Corporation has carried out an emergency repair work, providing a sigh of relief to the deplorable condition at Sakthan Stand created by a broken drinking pipe near the shops at the eastern corner of the Kunnamkulam-Guruvayur bus bay, was fixed.

Drinking water was being wasted here for weeks. Two and a half months ago, construction of a drain also began in the area where tiles were removed from the stand, to allow wastewater from shops to flow out.

The area was riddled with broken tiles and stones, causing people to stumble and fall. As a result, people avoided entering the shops, forcing shopkeepers to bear the cost to fix the damage in front of their stalls.

Meanwhile, the drain construction is taking place in front of the shops, adjacent to the bus track on the south side of the stand.
