Kanjirappally: The workers of St Antony’s private bus, which operates on the Ponkunnam–Ermeli–Vechoochira–Mannadishala route, turned saviours for Kulappuram native Aji (49) when he experienced discomfort during the trip. Aji had boarded the St Antony’s bus from Kanjirappally bus stand in the evening to travel to Kulappuzha. Soon after, he began to feel unwell.

The bus workers acted swiftly and drove directly to the nearby Mary Queens Hospital without stopping at any other halt. The bus owner, George Joseph of Vanchimala, who was also on board, along with driver Gopu Das and conductor Biju Keshavan, rushed Aji to the hospital with the cooperation of the passengers.

Aji, who was admitted to the emergency department, was treated and later discharged. Earlier, the owner of St Antony’s bus had raised ₹8 lakh by coordinating with other private buses to help the family of his driver, who had died in January due to illness.
