Marathamkode: The student volunteers of Marathamkode Government Higher Secondary School are busy stitching colourful maxis as Onam gifts for the residents of an old age home. Hamda, Romith, Liya, Nivedya Krishna, and Misna, volunteers at the Soochiyum Noolum stitching unit at the school, make the outfits after school hours.

The students plan to gift maxis to 20 women at the Kanivu old age home in Chiramanengad. They had visited the old age home earlier to take measurements and learn about the residents’ preferences before making the outfits.

Lab assistant Liji Thomas helps the students with measuring and cutting fabrics. The students will present the maxis to the grandmothers at the old age home after the Onam celebrations at school on Friday.
